A Short Virtual Tour of the Hall

We’ve just discovered the joys of 360 degree vistas which give an exciting introduction to four of the Hall’s most attractive rooms. We would like to thank Paul Edgar of R&R Studio, Hull, for suggesting the idea and for taking these stunning panoramas.

To view each one just click on the link and drag the bottom right corner to fill the screen. By moving the cursor to either the right or left, you can take a clock-wise or anticlock-wise tour of the room. If you want to make yourself giddy — just rotate the image quickly!

The first features the newly redecorated “Sitting Hall”, which used to be the principal focal point of the house in its earliest years. The colour scheme is a very close match to the original as analysed by the Conservation Department at Lincoln University.

The Drawing Room shows the room as it would have appeared in the late 18th century at the time when Sir John, 6th baronet, moved his family and chattels to Scawby in 1792 after selling the estate at Baysgarth in Barton-upon-Humber.

The Dining Room has a somewhat bucolic Regency feel to it, where many a sumptuous lunch or dinner has been served over the centuries.

Upstairs, the bedrooms display the family’s rather spartan approch to sleeping — no boudoirs or fripperies to be seen anywhere!

In its original form, Bedroom No 2 was wood-panelled but, by the early 18th century, the panelling had been stripped out, leaving a room and colour scheme which one sees today.

On the other hand, Bedroom No 7 still features the original pannelling and solid oak floors with the modern equivalent of its original colour scheme.
